In 1980 I graduated from high school from a small farming community in Iowa. My graduation present from my parents was a trip to Alaska. My brother who had moved there to work on the North Slope as a geologist. The seed had been planted............
Over the next 7 years I spent my time going to college and spending my summers in Alaska. It didn't take long for me to realize that Alaska had found a special place in my heart and soul. My goal was set. I wanted to move to Alaska!
Thus the journey started with me moving to Phoenix, Arizona and working as a substitute teacher in order to fund my dream. Little did I know that it would take over 20 years and many detours before I reached my goal and also made a dream come true.
